What It Takes to Be a
Successful NVDRS State: Practical Tips for States Interested in Applying for NVDRS
Friday, April 25, 2014Overview
1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
The webinar will be moderated by Paul Bonta, National Violence
Prevention Network, American College of Preventive Medicine.
Part 1: Update
on the NVDRS Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA)
Part 2: Tips
from Current NVDRS States
Paul Bonta will lead a Q & A session with
representatives from several current NVDRS states to get their insight on key
steps to getting a state ready to apply for NVDRS. Topics will include how
states have dealt with decentralized data from medical examiners, coroners
and/or law enforcement; insight into establishing key partnerships with data
providers; and how states have worked with specific cities or counties in the
process of setting up a statewide violent death reporting system.
Part 3: Open Q
Webinar participants can ask questions of the currently
funded NVDRS states. [CDC will be holding a separate technical assistance call
on the FOA at another time to answer FOA-related questions].
Sponsored by the
Safe States NVDRS Special Interest Group (SIG)
The NVDRS Special Interest Group is chaired by Scott Proescholdbell
(North Carolina VDRS) and serves as a forum for people and partners interested
in using NVDRS to prevent violent deaths.
