USDOT releases Every Place Counts DESIGN CHALLENGE Final Report
The Design Challenge aimed to raise awareness and identify innovative community design solutions that bridge the infrastructure divide and reconnect people to opportunity.Stakeholders who are working to connect communities that have been separated by transportation barriers can benefit from the learned experiences of the four Design Challenge cities. We hope that this work can serve as a model for public engagement around transformative, inclusive transportation projects in the 21st Century.
The report summarizes the experiences and lessons learned from the four selected cities – Spokane, WA; Nashville, TN; Philadelphia, PA; and Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – that participated in the Every Place Counts Design Challenge. USDOT convened residents, state and local transportation officials, city staff, and urban design professionals for a dynamic conversation about the respective communities’ needs and visions for improved transportation connectivity.
