State Health Leadership and the Opioid Epidemic:

Where Are We Now and Where Are We Going?

Friday, September 8, 2017

3:00 - 4:00 p.m. EDT

As opioid-related deaths continue to rise, state and territorial health officials are leading across government using multi-sector, statewide solutions to reverse this serious national crisis affecting millions of Americans.

Join this virtual Town Hall event and learn from peer health officials addressing the epidemic in their states. Presenters will offer their perspectives and share innovative approaches to preventing opioid misuse and abuse, ranging from education and prevention through treatment and recovery. A discussion of critical needs and future actions will engage all participants attending the event who will be invited to share their experiences, ask questions of the panelists, and make recommendations to ASTHO as we look at what else is needed to reduce opioid misuse and prevent addiction nationwide.

State and territorial public health officials, state and territorial health agency executive team members, ASTHO affiliates, and other partners in the public health opioid response at the state or territorial levels are all invited to watch online.

No registration is required. Simply return to this web page at 3 p.m. EDT on September 8 to watch online. The live event will allow for participant engagement via email. The Town Hall will be recorded for future viewing online.
