Opioid Issues & Trends Among Older Adults in Rural America
FEBRUARY 21, 20182:30–3:30 p.m. EST

Rural Americans are twice as likely to die from opioid misuse as their urban counterparts—and adults ages 45 and older comprise nearly half of these deaths.
A shortage of resources and limited access to care—combined with adverse socioeconomic conditions—are creating crises for many rural American families. Experts predict that the combination of the rural opioid epidemic and the aging of America’s population will place enormous pressure on health care systems, emergency response services, law enforcement, and other community services in the years to come. This webinar presents the facts behind this public health crisis and offers possible solutions.
