|2012 Joint Annual Meeting of Safe States & CDC|
The Safe States Alliance and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have once again joined forces to host a dynamic and collaborative annual meeting experience! The 2012 meeting was held in Atlanta, Georgia at the Buckhead Marriott Hotel and Conference Center from May 1-4, 2012.
The theme of the 2012 Annual Meeting was, "Shaping the Path to Safety." Over the years, injury and violence prevention professionals have worked tirelessly to make communities safer across the nation. Professionals from a variety of different fields and organizations have worked collaboratively and successfully to achieve common goals. During this Annual Meeting we wanted to celebrate the accomplishments of the past, while also looking forward to the achievements of the future.
The 2012 Joint Annual Meeting featured distinguished keynote speakers, engaging concurrent sessions, and valuable networking opportunities with hundreds of injury and violence prevention professionals.
During the meeting, we also celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the CDC Injury Center.
"This year marks a significant milestone for the field of Injury and Violence Prevention, as we are celebrating the CDC’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control’s (Injury Center) 20 years of service and dedication to saving lives and protecting people from injuries and violence. We see this as a celebration not only of the accomplishments of the Injury Center, but a celebration of the work of the field of injury and violence prevention."
