August 2014 Recess
Engage and educate the Congressional leaders in your state this August
During the “August Recess” (August 4, 2014 – September 5, 2014), Members of Congress will be working in their home districts and they want to hear from their constituents! This is the perfect opportunity for you to meet with your representatives to educate them about the importance of injury and violence prevention.
4 Easy Ways to Engage Your Representatives:
- Invite your Congressional member to see your program in action or speak at an event (see page 10 of the Congressional Outreach Guide)
- Attend a town hall meeting (see page 10 and 11 of the Congressional Outreach Guide)
- Request an at home visit with your Congressional member or staff in the district office (see page 12 and 13 of the Congressional Outreach Guide)
- Work with the local media to raise the visibility of injury and violence topics and prevention programs in action (see page 13-15 of the Congressional Outreach Guide)
