The last several weeks have been challenging as our nation continues to respond to COVID-19. This rapidly changing environment is impacting each and everyone of us both personally and professionally. Many of our members have been called into the response, while others are looking for ways to minimize the anticipated short and long term impacts of injuries and violence as a result of the COVID-19 response effort.

As injury and violence prevention (IVP) professionals, we know the drastic changes in everyday life we are experiencing – schools being closed, states implementing “shelter in place” and “social distancing” -- can lead to increased incidents of injuries and violence, while also taking a tremendous toll on IVP risk and protective factors like economic stability, community connectedness, and mental health.

During these unprecedented times, let's come together! Our membership is strong, supportive, and forward thinking. Together we can ensure that practices we know to prevent injuries and violence and support resilient, healthy communities, remain part of the conversation.

We invite all members to join us for a discussion on April 2, 2020 with colleagues from local, state, and national partners on IVP's impact, role and response to COVID-19. Members and partners will share their perspective on what we can expect to see across IVP, what we are currently seeing across IVP, and how we can position our communities to mitigate the IVP impact of COVID-19. We believe in bringing all of us together to share and discuss the current state of IVP, we can continue to advance the field.
