Shared risk and protective factors (SRPFs) – common characteristics that that make it more or less likely that a population will experience an injury, violence, or disease – have long been explored by public health professionals. However, efforts to translate this collective knowledge into practical and upstream interventions or “SRPF approaches” have proven complex and challenging for public health practitioners and their many multi-sector partners.

In response, the Safe States Alliance – in partnership with their members and collaborators – worked over the last two years to develop the Connections Lab, a new suite of resources that includes:

  • The first formal definition of a “SRPF approach.”
  • Characteristics of SRPF approaches that connect them to other public health frameworks.
  • A conceptual model that visualizes how and where SRPF approaches operate.
  • Strategies for how to evaluate and engage partners in SRPF approaches.
  • Examples of SRPF approaches being implemented in several states.

Join us for this webinar*, where we’ll give you a first look at the new Connections Lab site, walk through each of the site’s sections, and discuss how these resources can help advance SRPF-related initiatives.

*Please note that space is limited to the first 500 attendees for this webinar event.
