Partnerships between business and public health are essential in addressing and improving the vital conditions of a community. Despite strong interest in fostering meaningful collaborations to advance injury and violence prevention (IVP) efforts at the local, state, and national levels, resources to support this work are scarce.

In response to this, the Safe States Alliance is pleased to announce the release of its newest resource, “Strengthening Partnerships Between Business and Public Health: A Roadmap to Advancing Community Injury and Violence Prevention.” This Roadmap is a culmination of work starting in 2017 with the National Safety Council and extending through to an expert convening in August of 2020, in partnership with the United States Surgeon General.

During this webinar we will introduce the five critical steps and associated resources and considerations for strengthening partnerships, and explore key findings and lessons learned through a set of hypothetical situations, reinforced by real-life examples from community case studies.

Who is the intended audience for this webinar?

The Roadmap is intended to be used by businesses, public health departments, funders, non-profits, and governmental agencies as they work to build partnerships with the opposite sector.

If you can relate to any of these situations, this session is for you:

  • You work in public health or business and know the value of collaboration, but working together is new territory.
  • You’ve connected with business leaders in your community through networking events, but your relationship hasn’t moved into the planning stage.
  • You have developed goals for your collaborative, but have not planned activities for achieving those goals.
  • You are part of an active business and public health collaboration but haven’t investigated the impact of your work on IVP outcomes in your community yet.
  • You have had a great collaboration and have evaluated impact but need to broadly share your learnings.
