Workforce Development Committee



The Workforce Development Committee is responsible for the following activities: 

  • Represent member interests in professional and workforce development
  • Strengthen skills of IVP practitioners
  • Identify training needs expressed by IVP professionals
  • Plan or link to educational programs and activities to member needs
  • Ensure training efforts are founded in the Core Competencies of Injury & Violence Prevention
  • Collaborate with national partners on IVP educational efforts Support the implementation of activities in support of Safe States’ strategic plan goal to strengthen the injury and violence prevention workforce
  • Hold a joint meeting with the SAVIR Training and Infrastructure Committee to discuss opportunities to encourage inclusion of IVP in formal public health education settings
  • Provide input into an ASTHO-sponsored public health workforce assessment as opportunities arise
