Technical Assistance Call: Driver Behavior Change Seed Grant Program

Decreasing motor vehicle-related injuries and fatalities requires strong partnerships between agencies across a variety of settings and strategies. To that end, Safe States recently partnered with the National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) to develop a new resource document that aligns the public health approach with motor vehicle safety efforts to identify practices that have the highest potential to address multiple types of risky driving behavior simultaneously.

To take the findings and recommendations from that resource document into action, Safe States is pleased to offer the Driver Behavior Change Seed Grant Program to enhance state and local motor vehicle safety efforts by addressing shared risk and protective factors for driving safety, with an emphasis on behavior change. To accomplish this, multidisciplinary Safety Teams consisting of public health and traffic safety professionals at the state and/or local level will be funded to develop and implement strategies that are intended to address multiple risky driving behaviors simultaneously by minimizing risk factors and strengthening protective factors that affect driver behavior.

This technical assistance call will provide participants with an overview the Driver Behavior Change Seed Grant Program, describe eligibility criteria, discuss the timeline of program activities, share anticipated next steps, and create a space for call participants to ask any outstanding questions related to the program.
