Solicitation of Nominations for Appointment as Members of the Community Preventive Services Task Force

CDC has issued a Federal Register Notice to solicit nominations for qualified individuals interested in serving on the Community Preventive Services Task Force (CPSTF). If you or someone in your network would be interested in this opportunity feel free to pass this information along.

Members are appointed by the CDC director and serve five year terms, with possible extensions. Selections will be made for appointments staring in January, 2021 or January, 2022. Nomination packages must be received on or before 5:00 p.m. EDT, on Friday, June 26, 2020. Late nomination packages will not be considered.

About the CPSTF

The CPSTF is an independent, nonfederal panel of public health and prevention experts whose members represent a broad range of research, practice, and policy expertise in community preventive services, public health, health promotion, and disease prevention.  The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services established the CPSTF in 1996 to develop guidance on which community-based health promotion and disease prevention intervention approaches work and which do not work, based on available scientific evidence.  These findings are listed on The Community Guide website which collects evidence-based recommendations from CPSTF and makes them available to communities to use to protect and improve their population’s health.  The CPSTF is supported by 32 Liaison organizations that represent federal agencies, including the Armed Forces, and national organizations invested in America’s health. The CDC also works alongside CPSTF members and liaisons to provide both scientific and administrative support.
