 TRANSPORTATION

 

Ground Transportation is available at Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport from early morning until after the last arriving flight each night. Taxi Services and Shared Rides

Taxi service from the Atlanta airport will cost approximately $30.00. 

Lyft and Uber (app based ride share services) are also available. Rideshare drivers will pick up passengers at the North and South economy lots, which are a short walk from baggage claim 

 

Public Transportation

Atlanta's mass transit system, MARTA, provides a convenient one-way ride for $2.50.

Atlanta History Center

Allow plenty of time to explore the Atlanta History Center, which connects people, history, and culture. History exhibit topics include the Civil War, Atlanta's development, folk arts of the South and more. Two on-site historic homes, a living history farm complete with sheep and two children's playhouses add to the experience.

Atlantic Station

Shopping destination and one of the easiest destinations to get to on transit. Take the MARTA train to the Arts Center Station. Take the Arts Center exit out of the station, which involves going up two flights of escalators. At the top/street level, there is an Atlantic Station shuttle pick up right outside the station entrance and across from the Woodruff Arts Center. Shuttles run every 5-10 minutes and are free. Shuttle stops include the main commercial district/movie theater, Target, Ikea and residences.

Centennial Olympic Park

In addition to serving as Georgia's lasting legacy of the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games, this unique 21-acre park plays host to community-wide free events, including the Fourth of July Celebration, Wednesday Wind Down concert series and Fourth Saturday Family Fun Days. Center for Civil and Human Rights

The Center for Civil and Human Rights in downtown Atlanta is an engaging cultural attraction that connects the American Civil Rights Movement to today’s Global Human Rights Movements. Our purpose is to create a safe space for visitors to explore the fundamental rights of all human beings so that they leave inspired and empowered to join the ongoing dialogue about human rights in their communities.

Fernbank Museum of Natural History

Fox Theatre

Georgia Aquarium

Georgia Aquarium is Atlanta's #1 attraction for good reason. High Museum of Art Atlanta

Margaret Mitchell House

Part of the Atlanta History Center, but situated at a separate location in midtown Atlanta, this former family home, converted into an apartment building in 1919, explores the life of author Margaret Mitchell and her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel and the movie, Gone With the Wind.

Martin Luther King Birth Home

Martin Luther King, Jr., was born in 1929 in the Sweet Auburn community, the thriving African-American hub of Atlanta. His two-story birth home is open to visitors but only via a park ranger-led tour. Each tour is filled on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to 15 people. Piedmont Park

The largest rennovated park in the city and offers a wide variety of events, including concerts, comedy improv, green market, festivals and more. For outdoor lovers there are miles of walking paths, a lake, swimming pool, sports fields, tennis courts and a dog park. Just beyond Piedmont Park is the historic and active Virginia Highland neighborhood. There you will find many great restaurants, bars and unique shops.

MARTA Transportation. You can exit at the Arts Center Station and take 14th Street into the park, which gets you closer to the sports fields, running track and slightly closer to the lake, pool and Saturday morning Green Market. Or, you can exit at the Midtown Station and 10th Street down to the park. This route will put you closer to the rolling hills and at the far end of 10th Street you’ll find Park Tavern and the meadow, where the comedy crew usually sets up.

Catch bus 36, which departs from the Midtown MARTA Station and travels down 10th Street and through the Virginia Highlands neighborhood. Bus 99 also travels down 10th Street from the Midtown station for another bus route to the park.
