Preparing Your Presentation: Live Learning Labs

Live learning lab sessions will include one presenter interacting live with attendees through video using Zoom technology over a 45-minute block of time. A Safe States staff will be assigned to your Learning Lab session for any technical needs.

What to expect BEFORE the virtual conference as a live learning lab presenter

After being accepted as a Learning Lab session presenter, you should have received information on your designated virtual conference session day and time, assigned Safe States staff, link to confirm your presentation, and a link to your session’s Google Drive Folder.

Our conference platform uses Zoom technology to power this live meeting functionality. This means attendees will be able to see and hear you as you will be able see and hear them. With Zoom Meeting technology you can:

  • Share your screen with the audience
  • Use the “break out rooms” feature
  • Use the annotation tools

Prior to the virtual conference, Safe States will set up a planning call to introduce you to our virtual conference platform and Zoom features.

We recommend installing and/or updating (if applicable) your Zoom software prior to the virtual conference for best results. You will be prompted to install the application when you begin your session, but we recommend installing in advance to streamline your presentation at show time.

You should prepare for your 45-minute Learning Lab presentation as you would any other interactive virtual presentation. Come prepared to encourage live engagement!

We will be using Google drive folders to collect any session resources you would like attendees to have access to at the conference. The link for your Google Drive will be in your acceptance email. We ask that you upload any resources you would like to provide by Monday, August 24th.

What to expect DURING the virtual conference as a live learning lab presenter

You should be prepared to be virtually present for your session at the time it is scheduled for. Participants will be able to use a chat box and polling device to engage with you via video. Your designated Safe States staff will be in the session room during the designated session time to assist with any technical needs.
