Mentorship Program

Safe States Alliance offers an ongoing mentorship program for students and injury and violence prevention (IVP) professionals to help with career and professional development. Pairs are matched based on their interests and needs. Mentors participating in the program have an opportunity to share their experience in working in the IVP field and provide guidance to mentees in their studies and career. Mentees benefit from personalized engagement around leadership, professional development, navigating IVP careers, and emerging issues in IVP.

The initial mentorship period will run for six months with support from Safe States. All activities will be virtual, and Safe States will provide technological support as needed. Following the initial 6-month period, pairs will have the opportunity to revisit their matching and determine if the formal relationship will continue.

Participation is open to all Safe States members in active standing. For those interested, please complete the following survey:

Mentors and mentees will be matched based on programmatic interests, career goals, experience in IVP, and location. Mentees should be current students or recent graduates (within the past two years); Mentors should have a minimum of five years of experience in the IVP field.
